Mumbai's Beer Can serial killer strikes again and so does the Times of India

The Mumbai Beer Can serial killer is suspected to have killed another victim on Marine Lines. However, there is not much of fear among the general populace, since the killer seems to be striking at only street homosexuals.

And if it is anything related to the Gay community in Mumbai, can Ashok Row Kavi resist commenting on it : )? The Gay activist has deemed it fit to issue a statement rubbishing the profiles released by the Police about the killer and stating that in his (Kavi's) opinion, the killer was a well to do person, probably owning a car and not from the middle/lower-middle/poor strata, as the Police seem to believe (or what Kavi believes the police believe)!Kavi has come up with this theory because the killer has left a trail of Kingfisher beer cans at all his crime scenes and Kavi says that Kingfisher beer cans are routinely consumed by people in cars- so the killer must be a well to do person. Hmm...why can't he be the employed driver of some one else's car? And its just not true that beer cans are only favoured by the well to do. I have seen many not so well to do people consuming beer from cans and not the glass bottles, purely because with disposable cans, your cash your outgo is only Rs. 35 for Kingfisher (mild) beer, whereas if you buy a 650 ml bottle of beer, you have to shell out almost double the amount.

In a related event, the Times of India has pulled another coup of sorts, when it comes to photographing people. Earlier it had done so when an intrepid photographer in Bangalore insisted on capturing the pictures of India's finance minister on a family outing, despite the ministers protests, and was lambasted for doing so by the minister. Today, the Times of India's Mumbai edition has published the photographs of a woman with her full name, who has claimed that she has seen the killer with a knife, when she was walking by Marine Lines. Splendid! So all the serial killer has to do now is to trace this woman and...

Why are some of our media people so hungry for an 'exclusive' when they know that it might hurt the people concerned? So that they can then move on to suggest the solutions to all the nations problems, in their editorials, sanguinely?
