Mumbai socialites vomit racial bile ahead of BMC elections
P.Sainath of 'Everyone loves a good drought' fame, has written a brilliant piece exposing the activist socliates of Mumbai whose activism is limited only to giving interviews on television screens or dirtying the Marine Drive with their pedigreed dogs pooping all over the promenade.
These armchair activists are now casting open racial slurs by stating to the media that because their wards are reserved for the SC/ST/OBC's, in the upcoming BMC elections in Mumbai,it automatically means a lowering of standards. This is not only patently false (for the simple reason that the so called people with higher stds, from these societies are not capable of even coming out to vote, let alone dirty their hands in the hustle bustle of democratic elections), but more importantly a racial slur which tries to typecast caste with ability.
This is not an accident. Open shameless attacks, from upper castes, of this nature, under the guise of a desire to keep standards high, which are actually nothing less than a need to further and perpetuate selfish hold on resources and opportunities, have been a feature since some time now. The difference is that these attacks are getting uglier by the day and there is a urgent need to tell these people that such attacks wont go unanswered.
I am glad Sainath has done this.
