EtcEtc: Ipswich prostitutes being paid to avoid being murdered!
The Ipswich horror story where unsuspecting prostitutes are being murdered by a serial killer continues its interesting twists and turns.
The Guardian reports a statement by parent of one particular victim Annette Nichols as saying- "Tania was a lovely daughter - she was a caring loving, sensitive girl who would never hurt anyone. Unfortunately drugs took her away into her own secret world - a world that neither of us were aware of."
And Detective Chief Inspector Stewart Gull said- "We are looking at a number of interesting (italics mine) people, pursuing a number of interesting lines of inquiry," he said.
I wish the Inspector would be careful with his choice of words. Sherlock Holmes would definitely not have approved, Lestrade.

And now comes the report that Police and charity workers have actually started paying prostitutes so that they lay off seeking clients for at least the time that the murderer is loose. I did not know that the Police could get involved in this sort of a scheme anywhere in the world. I mean, think about it. If this logic were to be extended, all potential victims of crime would potentially have to be paid. And who knows- considering that there are indeed some twisted people in this world of ours (the Ipswich murderer being just one of them), there might be people who would actually DEMAND to be paid, following the Ipswich precedent.
Crime pays. But this scheme is murder.
