Dec 26 Tsunami - waves of destruction
Picture this-Exactly two years ago, a highly successful top notch regional executive, universally liked, based in Mumbai and working for a major multinational company, decides to go on vacation to East Africa. His immediate sub-ordinate from Dubai, suggests that their families head for a vacation to Galle, in SriLanka, instead. He agrees. After vacationing in a sea side Galle resort for a few days, they decide to leave the resort to move to another inland holiday spot. Just an hour before their scheduled departure from the resort when they are having their breakfast, giant waves from the sea strike the resort with full force.When the madness is over, it is established that everyone from the two families is washed away never to be found, except one child from the Mumbai based exec's family, who is found and bundled back home, traumatised. What was once a vibrant, loving family had been reduced to a minor statistic.
Did anyone of the couple of hundred thousands, including this exec. and his family, who were counted as dead, ever think that they would fall for 10-15 metre tall waves, coming from the sea, whose origin would be somewhere near Indonesia? Life is stranger than fiction.
